Central Utah Public Health Department Confirms First COVID-19 Case in Piute County

Richfield, UT May 7, 2020 – The Central Utah Public Health Department (CUPHD) has confirmed the first positive case of COVID-19 in Piute County. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Central Utah Health District to 27.
The individual is between the ages of 45-64 and is currently recovering at home. The individual contracted the virus from an exposure to another confirmed case outside of the Central Utah Health District. “COVID19 is still active in our communities, with several new cases confirmed in the past week in our Health District. Although we haven’t seen case counts as high as other areas in the state or country, we encourage individuals to continue to practice social distancing and other preventive measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.” said Nate Selin, CUPHD’s Health Officer.

  1. The numbers on this site do not add up. Does anyone make sure the information we are receiving is accurate? Total cases 38, but by age shows 33. Hospitalizations 3, but by county only one. This is deadly serious. Why is our health department not dependable?

  2. Is anyone paying attention to the numbers? Can someone please update this website to coincide with what the State is actually reporting? Hello? Are you there?

  3. We now have 79 cases. 28 in Sanpete county. Very few people wearing masks, some restaurants have zero compliance to stop transmissions. The City Cafe in Ephraim is a prime example. We’re in for a hard ride if we don’t take personal responsibility. Your mask saves me and all your customers and friends. Show you care. Wear one.
