CUPHD Confirmed First COVID-19 Cases in Sevier County

Richfield, UT April 15, 2020 – The Central Utah Public Health Department (CUPHD) has confirmed the first two positive cases of COVID-19 in Sevier County. These are the seventh and eighth confirmed cases in the Central Utah Health District.
Both cases are between the ages of 25-45, and are currently recovering at their home in Sevier County. These cases were contracted from exposure to an individual from outside the district who later was confirmed to have COVID-19. “These positive cases followed all of the proper procedures in notifying the Health Department and their medical provider early on, and then self-quarantining. This significantly reduced potential exposures to other individuals in the community,” said Nate Selin, CUPHD’s Health Officer.

  1. This is great information! thank you, thank you for putting forth information so we who live in the central region can know ,at least how many cases are in our counties. Also what is being done to control and quarantine the individuals.

  2. Can’t thank you enough for putting this information out for the counties you cover so we can be aware of the spread of virus in our communities. Keep up the good work and stay safe. Thanks so much.

Good information but knowing which cities would help us protect ourselves. Example, Richfield is 30 miles from us, but Salina is only 14. Thank you for your help.

    1. We understand your concerns. However, due to privacy of the individual, no further information will be released at this time. CUPHD is tracing the patient’s contacts to determine other potential exposures, and will instruct any possible exposures to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days. CUPHD will monitor exposed individuals daily for any symptoms of COVID-19.

  4. Why aren’t you providing the same info on the last 3 cases on Sevier County. The people here deserved to be informed better.

  5. I see information about the first 2 confirmed cases in Sevier county but nothing about the additional 3 confirmed cases since the first 2. Your site lists 5 cases in Sevier county. Were these community unknown spread or are they from direct known contact? Just good to know if we are in a community spread situation now or still those that chose to visit in another area and contact was done outside our area. Thanks!

So if I read the comments correctly, the 5 cases in Sevier Co are individuals who were all in contact within in the same circle of friends meaning the first person diagnosed was someone they all were around and all are quarantined in their homes. Therefore it is not spread all over Sevier Co.
