CUPHD Confirms First COVID-19 Cases in Sanpete County

Richfield, UT April 18, 2020 – The Central Utah Public Health Department (CUPHD) has confirmed the first positive cases of COVID-19 in Sanpete County. Three cases have been confirmed in the county, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Central Utah Health District to fifteen.
Two of the individuals are between the ages of 40-60, while the other is between the ages of 18-25. All three individuals are currently recovering at home in Sanpete County. These cases were contracted from exposure to an individual within the Central Utah Health District who was later confirmed to have COVID-19. “While we were able to identify the point of exposure for these cases, these cases highlight the active nature of COVID-19 within our health district. As cases continue to increase, it is essential that our communities remain vigilant in their efforts to practice proper social distancing, take protective measures when in contact with others, and to stay home when sick.” said Nate Selin, CUPHD’s Health Officer.

    1. We understand your concerns. However, due to privacy of the individual, no further information will be released at this time. CUPHD is tracing the patient’s contacts to determine other potential exposures, and will instruct any possible exposures to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days. CUPHD will monitor exposed individuals daily for any symptoms of COVID-19.

  1. There are areas where those who have tested positive (even those already recovered) have received death threats, hence the reason we only will know what county current positive cases are located. Best way to proceed is to assume you may have been exposed, wash hands, use disinfectant, mask if you can and keep your circle you visit with in person very small.

  2. Why aren’t you people telling us the actual county numbers? This is not right !!!!! Update your website with a list of county numbers! We have every right to know and to have this information available! Please seriously Fix it!!!!!!

      1. I’m looking and not finding where to see these daily updated test numbers. . Went to the link you replied with and still not seeing it. Can you be more specific please? Where do we click to find them?

  3. We have reason to believe the positive cases in Sanpete are not self quarantining. How do we protect ourselves from them? Testing positive is not your fault. But if you do not quarantine and infect me, that is your fault.

    1. What reasons or more specifically proof do you have to believe that the people/person who have tested positive are not self quarantining?

  4. Gunnison market, dollar store, hardware stores, gas station stores all need to require masks before entering. We had people at grocery store without masks and difficulty staying 6 ft away.

    1. I feel the same way here in Richfield when it comes to self quarantine it seems like no one is really doing it here. Everything is still just as busy as it was before the virus. I work at the grocery store and we are required to wear masks and keep everything sanitized but the public isnt making it easy or wearing masks themselves. I think something more needs to be done.

  5. Thank you for this site. It is very helpful. Thank you for all you are doing to keep our communities safe.

  6. How does one read the case chart for the different counties? For instance today the chart lists 21 possitve cases and 10 cases of folks that have recovered. Does that me there are 11 active cases? The chart is a little difficult to decipher.
Thanks for clearifing this and for all you do.

  7. That is nonsense. If we know what city it is in how would that disclosed who it is? There’s three thousand people in Manti. If we knew there were two cases of Manti and they were quarantined how would we know who they were. You have a responsibility to let people know what cities are being affected. There are many public places within each city limits such as grocery stores. We have a right to know which cities are being affected by the covid-19

  8. If you have proof that masks work then Mask should be mandated. To protect rest of the community. And mandate quarantine
